Misdiagnosis in Montague …

 Back in the day , Earls top-hand Cub suffered some sort of debilitating stroke or seizure one evening while home alone …. just a mile west of Montague …..he managed to reach the phone and call for an ambulance ….

  Montague has no ambulance service so one had to be dispatched from nearby Nocona …

    Meanwhile , volunteer fire fighter Tommy O’Neal heard the dispatch and destination on his MFD scanner at home .. He knew Bear Cub and where he lived … Tom jumped in his truck and raced to the scene … He arrived long before the ambulance and paramedics from Nocona..

   He entered the house and established communication with Cub … then the Ambulance arrived and placed Cub on a gurney for transport to the Hospital in Nocona …

  Tom had known Cub all his life , so when the paramedics loaded Cub , Tom loaded up too …for the concerned trip to the hospital …

    While screaming along towards medical treatment in Nocona , one of the tending paramedics told Tom … I think this is a clear-cut case of alcohol poisoning , this guy reeks of cheap booze …

   Cub don’t even drink …. Tom replied , that’s me you smell !… Keep running hot !

More on the Melons

    Jack Nabours has vine-ripened watermelons for-sale at 2730 Hwy 455 , just a quarter-mile east of the 455 intersection and Hwy 59 in Montague …(towards Forestburg)….Take the guess-work out of thumping melons , just get’em from Jack !

   He’ll have melons on a trailer in front of his house on Friday Saturday Sunday … prices are marked …honor-system pay ….If you need a fresh melon on some other day , simply call him at 940-366-9410 ..

  These melons are NOT grown in Mexico or ripened in the back of a semi on interstate 35 … they are grown locally and ripened on the vine ….delicious

Peace will come , but not from Washington …

  For four months Secretary of State  John Kerry has shuttled back and forth between Israel and Gaza in an effort to barter peace talks between Islam controlled Palestine and the Jewish state of Israel ..They are now resuming the peace talks for the first time in several years..

   On the surface this appears to be progress in the effort of promoting peace in the middle east…… but the reality of this pressured gathering is that the European Union of some twenty-five separate nations , along with our current administration,  are assembling Israel and Palestine to apply added pressure for Israel to relinquish land seized in the Six Day War to the Palestinians in a futile effort to obtain lasting peace …

   Europe and America want Netanyahu to return to the Israeli borders of 1967… giving the Palestinians and their terrorist government a larger area from which to fire their rockets into Israel ..

   Russia openly supports Bashar Assad of Syria as he kills 100,000 people in his Muslim nation… Europe is currently bartering for peace in the militarily controlled streets of Egypt , the same military that America supplies with arms and jets ..

   As a reader of Biblical prophecy , it appears to me that the nations of the world are aligning in a conspiracy to wipe the jewish nation of Israel off the map …but the same prophecy that alerts me to the current situation in the middle east , also assures me that God’s chosen nation and it’s Capital city of Jerusalem will eventually house the Kingdom of God , with Jesus Christ as King over all nations …

   For observant believers , Armageddon is drawing near.. for secular politicians peace in the Middle East will result from Israel giving up Jerusalem and the surrounding post-67 land to Islam …not so !

  Some prophecy experts say the anti-christ will emerge from the New Roman Empire ( E.U. ) , some believe the anti-christ will come to power through Islam….Personally I think the anti-christ will be Islamic , but either way , if Israel and Palestine DO sign a peace agreement , that will mark the beginning of the seven year tribulation period …

  Hillary’s all fired up because Anthony Weiner’s wife , Uma , has been compared to Hillary and Tammy Wynett….( Stand By Your Man )…even when he’s caught red-handed …if it’s financially advantageous to defend fornication by the spouse…

 Uma Weiner worked for Hillary , and learned first hand to ignore the indiscretions of hormonal men in the interest of self-preservation as a career politician ..

  Hillary and Uma Weiner are willing to withstand public humiliation , betrayal , and monumental embarrassment for the continuation of celebrity on the world stage.

   Maybe Uma should also do some insider trading and real-estate deals to help her forget she’s married to political scum , just like Hillary !

Grapes of Wrath ….

 I’m sure many of you recall the fateful language barrier experience by a local gardener and his undocumented workers only weeks ago …. when Tom’s well-meaning Mexicans harvested his fledgling watermelon crop along with the squash and home-wrecker cucumbers…..long  before the harvest was ready …

  Fast forward to this past week : ….Needing to spray the vineyard for an infestation of grass-hoppers , Tom became more demonstrative with the same crew of Spanish farmers ….he painstakingly stood within sight of the vineyard , pointed directly towards the haggard vines where the grass-hoppers had done the damage , and explained in great detail how their task was to spray each vine with insecticide …. Tom was speaking as clearly as he knew how …..in English ….

   Again the immigrant workers acknowledged with ..See See we savy ! 

    Again Tom left for work as the workers chattered among themselves ….in native spanish ! 

     You guessed it ! Tom returned after a trying day at the office to find eight rounded bushels of pea-sized grapes harvested and waiting on his porch …

   No squash ….no cucumbers ….no watermelons…and now no grapes for wine.. just as Tom really needs a strong drink …

  One quick call to the professionals at “Gro-pto” could have easily saved the crop …..

Secret Ingredient …

 Today was a special day at Jean’s Bible Class of Nocona …the quarterly free-breakfast for all members and cherished guest …

  The cooks arrived at seven a.m. sharp … Randy “Zeke” Bowls scrambling eggs … Wormy Womack made the gravy …Ed and late arrival Ron cooking sausage and bacon….while I had the dubious task of baking cat-head biscuits …

  All was going according to plan til Ed initiated his Italian plot to add a Dago twist to the traditionally unseasoned breakfast …. He slipped a full head of garlic from his apron pocket and dropped it onto the griddle loaded down with sausage and bacon …

   No one had to tell the patrons and fellow cooks that we’d been invaded ….sabotaged from within …soon the stench engulfed the whole kitchen and fellowship hall…even the broom closet smelled like garlic ..

   When Womack was washing up his utensils , Ed slipped the Italian breath-mints into the gravy …. he’s a bad seed !

    As the hungry patrons were navigating the buffet line, a common question reoccured several times … ” What’s these mysterious looking lumps in the gravy ?”…. Silence was the only response from the griddle …

  Eventually Red Walser found his way to the buffet …. He loaded his plate with meticulous precision …opened two biscuits for a subsequent gravy bath , when the guy waiting behind him in line asked the familiar question again …

   What’s those mysterious lumps in the gravy ???…. Red paused a minute before responding ”  I’m not real sure , but the the one I ate tasted just like a stink-bug !

Every which way but loose ….

   Several local folks ventured down to the Sunset area for a professional pigeon shoot sponsored by the Montague County Cowboy Church on Saturday ..

   A few noted gun enthusiasts from Montague also attended ….One-eyed Eddie and his Calfornia lawyer were there to represent the target challenged population north of the stop sign..

  Good-brother Beemer likewise appeared to demonstrate his proficiency at the gentlemanly sport of shooting clay , based on his record with the Shrine-Shooters of Wichita Falls…

   According to eye-witness reports , he looked great in his freshly starched hunting attire… Hand crafted shot-gun …custom ammunition…..polorized anti-glare sun glasses.. and only the highest quality Kid-Leather shooting gloves…

   He was clearly a seasoned veteran of this individual sport and certainly looked the part .. All the bookies and the rookies were placing bets on the dry-cleaning  favorite !

  He looked absolutely stunning ….until he pulled the trigger on the first clay pigeon….. At which time the California trans-plant unleashed a barrage of masonic whoop-ass with his arsenal of Wal-Mart products ..

  Ron “dead-eye” Walker took the lead and held it……..as Beemer applied another thinly veiled coat of Neatsfoot oil to his custom walnut stock before returning it to it’s rightful place in a hand-tooled carrying case …
