Dove season ..

 September 1 marks the annual assault on the peaceful Dove .. These passive fowl are in particular danger this year … Ed’s had corrective laser surgery on both eyes …

  Assuming the surgery rendered his vision improved by 100 percent , he could double last years opening-day slaughter of five ring-necks and one scissortail …..three boxes of shells and three six-packs of Miller premium…

  His problem wasn’t so much that he could not see them …he just couldn’t hit’em … he was seeing multiples on every flight ..allowing for windage and elevation on the lead bird which turned out to be a double image of the actual bird…

  He won a new shotgun down at the square-head raffle last year …  ( rigged raffle )… New gun , New Eyes , but I predict the same old tired excuses !

  the Mayor , while on a political fund-raising mission in Colorado , landed his limit in political contributions and twelve hearty trout …The seasoned Angler was working all the angles along the virgin streams of Eastern Colorado .. Baccus was just trying to get his street paved on the lower east side …

 When news correspondents report from the enemy lines of battle-front confrontations they don’t stand unprotected in direct line of fire to add drama to the segment …When they report from tragic accidents on our nations freeways , they don’t stand on the center stripe of passing traffic to accent the danger …yet when these same reporters do live segments on weather related disasters they feel compelled to brave the elements for the sake of dramatization .

  If they are reporting on flood conditions, they stand in knee-deep water to relay the news…if they are reporting on the devastation inflicted by gale-force winds , they stand hanging to a lamp-post or leaning unprotected at a 45 degree angle to emphasize the reality..

   Neither torrents or rain nor hazardous swirling winds shall keep them from their assigned mission of reporting the news , but add falling rockets or speeding semi’s to the fray and they instinctively display more common sense than in a category two hurricane…

  That reminds me of a particular report from the streets of New Orleans during Katrina in 2005.. some unidentified reporter was seated in a flat-bottom boat , giving details of the obvious flooded streets in the big easy .. When suddenly an unsuspecting pedestrian walked by in ankle-deep water right next to her seated safely in her boat.. She was telling of catastrophic floods as the mute passer-by unwittingly gave the actual story.. dry-socks !

 Powers beyond our control harbor fate filled intentions against us …No , I’m not speaking of pending detriment looming along the Gulf Coast…nor the wounded remnants of the Republican Convention in Florida..

   I’m speaking of the back-hoe operator that up-rooted telephone communications , and my internet connection in the capital city this morning .. thereby silencing the poison pen and Montague County Moments ..

  He unintentionally performed what first seemed as communication inconvenience , or arguably what some would consider divine intervention , but either way the end result rendered this correspondent speechless..

  Now that lines of communication have been re-established , I’ve long forgotten whom today’s commentary was intended towards …

  Suffice this post to rival the recommendations of Craig’s List …If you EVER require the services of a productive private detective in Montague , I highly recommend the observant senses of the school janitor ..He don’t miss nothing …unlicensed private eye …don’t let his laid back demeanor and mischievous smile catch you napping …his survival skills are keen and his awareness unconventional , his tracking instinct is second only to the Navy Seals ..
