as i was eating my poorman’s porridge this evening , the cell phone interrupted…. it was my highway patrol son-in-law from down in grayson county, explaining how he met a friend of mine today…during a routine traffic stop………..oh yeah , who ?
he went on to say how the night crawler’s oilfield service company from nocona , had set a new record for single-stop violations on a five-axle vehicle in grayson county… two big chief tablets listed all the inoperative mechanical and electrical safety features in disrepair….stop lights… turn signals…improper axle weight distribution…etc. on and on and on……. one shy of twenty open road violations….
obviously attempting to dodge interstate weight stations, why else would he be traveling thru Sherman on his way to Shreveport… can you say boot-leg ?
the truck was grounded til the most flagrant violations were repaired…and the driver acquires a valid license…
actually , the son-in-law reported , he was as lenient as he could possibly be without jeopardizing his own job… only fined the crawler enough to build two more miles of four-lane interstate highway and two county road bridges , thanks to his close association with the shortman…. ( nothing like having friends in high places)
sorry crawler , the fact that you admitted knowing me could have actually cost you several hundred…next time you’ll know ! cut through oklahoma !
